Couldn’t you put the loops through the tarp from the top and have the ridge line on top??

Total crap for home defence . Try to fire a second bolt if you have 2 intruders. You are toast. Nothing beats a 9 mm with 15 rounds in it. You don’t have to be a champion…..just fire away. I saw this clip of guy in Texas with guys trying to break into his home kicking the door, knowing he was inside but oblivious to the fact he had a gun. He fired 13 rounds through the door in a nanosecond. The dudes weee unarmed but fled like the devil was after them and were arrested days later. One would have looked pretty stupid with a crossbow. Nifty little thing however, but recreational or hunting ( forbidden here in Europe…..but lots of farmers hunt hogs with it )

You should have showed us from YOUR perspective, so that someone like me can glean over your shoulder. The way you show it is too compliaced as everything is being mirrored from the perspective of the watcher.

I think it might work better with an aluminum reflector cone above on the chain, and perhaps insulate the other side of the cone with an insulated paint coating so the heat is entirely reflected back.

Hello I am on east coast.. I have some older topo maps that are 30+ years old that I would LIKE to still use. For example they indicate around 6-7 degree (depending on map) declination. I looked online and today its about 10.4. Can I set my compass to the 10.4 offset and still use the older map? orienting the map to true north but with today's declination? Also, when I travel my route I assume leave the declination offset in place on my compass. Thank you...

Am i crazy, does orienting a map affect the conversion from magnetic bearings to a plottable map grid coordinate in anyway? Orienting a map is just convenient to make sure when you look up from the map you are looking at the right land features, right? It doesnt actually affect any math??

I got the pistol version without a stock, and I need to see which of the several limbs I can reasonably use in that configuration. I really don't like the way they integrated the reload lever into the stock. They should've build something underneath that perhaps resembled a lever gun action (though it would have to be designed differently).

Looks to me that there are many knots are called the trucker hitch. I can do it, bud the way how i do it, is totally different ! I am a truckdriver by profession, and i have never seen a professional truckdriver do it like this ! I don't say that you can't use it like this, bud for me this is not working well !

Once oriented as explained in your video, can you then take a bearing off the map and proceed to follow that bearing in the real world without the need to adjust for magnetic declination any further?

A Taut Line Hitch would have been a better choice for around the first tree due to the fact that your using cordage that has quite a bit of stretch and this knot would allow you to tighten from both ends. A far better choice of cordage would be Spectra or Dyneema (both are a form/type of HMPE) as they do not stretch and have other qualities making them a far better choice in cordage for structure building. AND rather than the sticks a far better method would be to make and use Prusik Knots for fixing the tarp to your ridgeline. However, your demonstration of the two knots is good and in a pinch with the materials you have its not a terrible setup.

This thing is like $350 bucks if you want a toy just go buy a little alligator or bear XL for like $60 you can also buy an alligator or bear XL and then get the magazine for like $70 so the whole setup would be half the price of this stinger. I have a bear XL with AR-7 magazine, a flashlight and a red dot with a laser and a quiver. Great little setup fun to shoot might save your life

So If I understood, the map is always oriented towards grid. My declination is positive 13°east. I have set my compass to 347° but I'm wondering why it's not set to 13°? I think what confuses me is Left Add Right Subtract(LARS/Magnetic to Grid Add Grid to Magnetic Subtract) can someone help me out thanks!

A dome type tent with venting mesh at top and outer flysheet covered vent above that... well yes, heat rises and leaves tent. I experimented one winter by putting a plastic bag between the inner and outer vents and temp went up a lot with no other heating but so did the damp. Did not try adjusting the area not covered by the plastic but there would have been some sort of happy medium ie balance of heat and less damp. With other types of tent with no roof venting on inner I would think temperature with candle would be higher.

If you put the candle in a metal pot, on the floor, insulated by something non-flammable underneath it, to protect the floor of the tent, you should maximize the heat rising off of the candle flame. The pot would protect it from tipping over and possibly spilling some hot wax.
